After a two game losing skid, the Louisville Cardinals have turned it around by stringing together three straight wins in dominating fashion. Their past three games were won by a total of 117 points.

Hailey Van Lith led the way in the first two games with back-to-back 21 point nights followed by a 19-point outing. The Cardinals played their cross-town rival in Bellarmine University and secured the win by an even 30 points. With this win, it seemed slightly redemptive as the men’s basketball team opened up their season against Bellarmine and lost by one point.

Playing in the historic Freedom Hall, Louisville was able to outduel the Knights in almost every statistical category. Most notably, the Cardinals only had ten turnovers to the Knights’ 19 turnovers. Bellarmine forward Cam Browning was the least secure with the ball in her hands as she led the way with 6 solo turnovers.

With the added possessions for the Cardinals, they were able to take advantage of the extra time with the ball and shot the ball at a much higher percentage than the Knights. Bellarmine shot an abysmal 29.6% from the field, while Louisville recorded a near 50% field goal percentage coming in at 47.8%.

This impressive field goal percentage was primarily thanks to their dominance in the paint. Louisville outscored Bellarmine in the paint 42-16 which is a fantastic way to rack up easy points and impact the field goal percentage in the right direction.

Next up for the Cardinals is the Pitt Panthers this coming Sunday at 2:00 PM EST, which is a matchup that the nation just witnessed on the volleyball court in the Final Four of the 2022 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament. Hopefully, the women’s basketball team follows in the footsteps of the volleyball team and comes away with their fourth consecutive win.
