After the Louisville coaching staff was largely depleted following the departure of Scott Satterfield to Cincinnati, newly installed Head Coach Jeff Brohm had a heavy workload set before him as he not only had to restructure the coaching staff, but also had to hit the ground running in the recruiting department as well as the transfer portal.

December 8, 2022 is probably not the most ideal time to take over the helm of a new program. But, what Brohm has done in the short amount of time that he has been here in Louisville is nothing short of incredible.

While Coach Brohm was here in Louisville hosting the largest recruiting weekend in Louisville history, interim Head Coach Deion Branch and Defensive Line Coach Mark Ivey were leading the Cardinals to war against the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl.

The passion for these players and the competitiveness between Coach Ivey and Coach Branch are enough to fuel an entire city, and that is what they are going to continue to do for the Louisville Cardinals.

The former Super Bowl MVP will be retained as the Director of Player Development & Head of Alumni Relations and Coach Mark Ivey will be retained as a Defensive Assistant. Ivey’s area of focus will be announced at a later date.

Branch and Ivey will now join a staff that includes:

  • Brian Brohm, Offensive Coordinator
  • Ron English, Defensive Coordinator
  • Mark Hagen, Defensive Line Coach & Potential Co-Defensive Coordinator
  • Garrick McGee, Wide Receivers Coach
  • Chris Barclay, Running Backs Coach
