Jack Plummer may soon join former coach Jeff Brohm at Louisville

Could Jack Plummer be in Cardinal Red in 2023?
Jack Plummer announced he would transfer from the California Golden Bears twenty-four hours ago, and all signs indicate he will reunite with former coach Jeff Brohm at the University of Louisville. Brohm recently traveled to California on December 11th to watch Pierce Clarkson and St. John Bosco Football win the State title. He was also Plummer’s coach at Purdue from 2019 until 2021.
Coincidentally, yesterday on national signing day, Brohm commented his club would probably add one more quarterback from the transfer portal. It’s been well-documented that Steve Clarkson, the father of Louisville commit Pierce Clarkson, wants his son to spend a season transitioning to the college game before playing.
Someone like Plummer would immediately provide a mentoring figure to Clarkson and serve as an in-between quarterback for Louisville. As a graduate transfer, Plummer would immediately be eligible to play.
Having been in Brohm’s system for nearly three years, he’d have a grasp of the offense and understand the mindset of the head coach. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect scenario for Jeff Brohm’s first year at the University of Louisville.
Plummer is a 6-foot-5, 220-lb. atypical prostyle pocket passer from Gilbert, Arizona. He was a three-star prospect recruited by Brohm at Purdue, committing to Purdue over Arizona, Boise State, Cincinnati, and Colorado State. As a senior at Cal he threw for 3095 yards, twenty-one touchdowns, and nine interceptions. The Cal Golden Bears finished 4-8 in 2022, with well-documented atrocious offensive line play.
Steve Clarkson, Pierce’s Father and mentor
Steve Clarkson, the father of Pierce Clarkson, has an interesting background. He’s a former Canadian football league player who nearly made an NFL roster. Clarkson mentored former USC and NFL quarterbacks Matt Leinart and Matt Cassel, and Steelers future hall-of-fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Louisville Head coach Jeff Brohm is just as excited about having a connection to Steve as he is having Pierce on-campus.
