Four-Star ATH Jamari Johnson Commits to Louisville ‘at last’
The momentum continues for Head Coach Jeff Brohm and the Louisville football program as four-star athlete Jamari Johnson out of Inglewood, California officially committed to Louisville during the All-American Bowl on NBC.
Johnson–a 6-foot-5 tight end–originally moved to California to further his football career and initially played the quarterback position. But, his high school head coach sat him down to inform him that he was not a quarterbaack, although he could have a successful career as a tight end.
Swallowing his pride and accepting the transition to the tight end position, Johnson moved to the tight end position, became a standout, and earned himself a four-star rating from 247 Sports.
He committed to Louisville back in April 2022, but decided to re-think his commitment after the sudden coaching change in early December. The Inglewood High School product pushed his decision back to the All-American Bowl and today he announced he was sticking with the Cardinals over Oregon, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati.
Johnson joins Pierce Clarkson, Aaron Williams, and Jahlil McClain in coming from California to Louisville and will become an integral part in the Jeff Brohm offense over the years at the tight end position. With the absence of Marshon Ford, Josh Lifson, and Isaac Martin, the four-star recruit will have the ability to start fairly soon in a tight end room that needs depth. Brohm adds another offensive talent to the incoming class officially.
