Louisville gets much needed o-line depth in John Paul Flores
John Paul Flores, a 6-foot-5 300-lb. offensive lineman out of Fort Worth, Texas is making the Louisville Cardinals his third and final stop in the collegiate ranks. Coming out of high school, Flores committed to the Dartmouth Big Green of the Ivy League and would go on to have a successful career there.
The Flores family is filled with Ivy League caliber minds and athletic talents as his older brother, Jacob Flores was an offensive lineman for the Big Green from 2012-2015. His younger brother, Michael Flores, is currently a member of the Dartmouth football program. All three Flores brothers are offensive lineman and all three of them majored in religion during their time at the Ivy League school.
No other school had a chance to land him coming out of high school because Dartmouth is a family affair for the Flores family. Once he decided to leave Dartmouth and continue his football career with the University of Virginia, the familial legend was set to continue as he could follow in the footsteps of his older brother and play at the NFL level.
Jacob, went undrafted, but ended up spending time in the Green Bay Packers organization. After making a quick one-year stop in Charlottesville, John Paul announced he was re-entering his name into the transfer portal for the second straight year.
And on January 6, 2023, he tweeted out that he had received a scholarship offer from the University of Louisville. Now, three days later, Head Coach Jeff Brohm brings him into the fold for much needed depth at his position.
Prior to his arrival, Louisville had lost Caleb Chandler, Trevor Reid, and Luke Kandra via graduation and the transfer portal. So, Flores can come in immediately and help bolster the offensive line. Not only can he play immediately, but he could provide veteran leadership to the two incoming freshmen in Madden Sanker and Luke Burgess, who will be down in the trenches with him.
