Louisville BB Recruiting: Ballard’s Gabe Sisk needs an offer
It has to be difficult for Head Coach Kenny Payne and the staff not to look forward to next season in hopes of a massive roster overhaul, while they are currently sitting with a 2-16 cumulative record. The Louisville basketball team is not where it normally is this season. Usually, Louisville basketball is synonymous with greatness and it was synonymous with the legendary Rick Pitino for many years.
But, now Louisville is led by Kenny Payne, one of the players for the other legendary Louisville head coach, Denny Crum. This is the first time he has ever been at the helm of a program with full responsibility. He has spent his career as a perennial assistant under coaching greats John Calipari and Tom Thibodeau in the NBA.
One of the many reasons Kenny Payne was brought here was due to his renowned recruiting prowess, but his impact in that department still has yet to be seen for Louisville. While he has reportedly been out recruiting at times, assistant coach Nolan Smith has also made several recruiting trips throughout his short tenure in Louisville.
Perhaps, they do not need to look too much further outside of their backyard with senior Gabe Sisk at Ballard High School. Right now, 247 Sports has him as a three-star prospect, but he can put up points at will and he is a native of Louisville, so that is a recruiting advantage already.
In an article published by Wave3 news, Sisk was acknowledged as a lifelong Louisville fan, but has yet to receive an offer from his hometown squad. Ironically, his first collegiate offer was from former Louisville legend Rick Pitino at Iona. At this time, he has also received offers from Coastal Carolina and Eastern Kentucky, but him and his family would love to stay home and play for Louisville I’m sure.
A fan has FutureCasted him to come to the Cardinals already despite the absence of an offer, so the fanbase is certainly behind the move. Now, it just needs to come to fruition for his family, the fanbase, and as another addition to the Class of 2023 recruiting class that currently holds two signees thus far.
