Purdue Tight End Commit George Burhenn is one to keep an eye on as a potential flip to Louisville on National Signing Day, which is set for tomorrow February 1, 2023.

George Burhenn, is the ranked as the seventh best overall prospect in the state of Indiana and has been verbally committed to the Purdue Boilermakers since July 2022. The 6-foot-5 Mount Vernon, Indiana native committed to the Boilermakers over Iowa and Iowa State to play for then-Head Coach Jeff Brohm and then-Tight Ends Coach Ryan Wallace.

Well, in case you have been living under a rock, Jeff Brohm and Ryan Wallace are both on staff at the University of Louisville now and Burhenn could have signed when the Early Signing Period opened on December 21, 2022, but for some reason he elected not to ink his name onto any paper just yet.

According to Mark Ambrogi of the Indiana-based Current newspaper, George Burhenn decided to “keep his options open” once the coaching changes happened in the Purdue football program. He quickly followed it up by saying he would visit Louisville because of his familiarity with both Jeff Brohm and Ryan Wallace, which he would hold to his word because he was on a visit here in the middle of December, shortly after the Jeff Brohm news to Louisville came to fruition.

With the amount of players who put their pens where their mouth was in the Early Signing Period, it makes you wonder why he didn’t follow suit with the Boilermakers. And the speculation then begins with he could be on his way to the University of Louisville to join fellow tight end Jamari Johnson as the second tight end in the Class of 2023.

Burhenn would be a huge asset to this recruiting class because tight end is still an area of need for the Cardinals. Jeff Brohm has done a good job filling all of the holes on the team whether it be through the transfer portal, through offering scholarships to high school players, or through handing out preferred walk-on opportunities to local high school products.

So, it’s evident that brohm has a tendency to notice voids on the team and to fill them quickly, which leaves one to wonder why there is still a void at the tight end position. And that could very well be because George Burhenn is on his way to Louisville, Kentucky to join FlyVille23.
