The University of Louisville has been hot in the Class of 2024 recruiting market thus far, landing verbal commitments from four-star running back Isaac Brown and five-star linebacker TJ Capers. Now, Louisville is in the running for elite edge rusher Booker Pickett Jr., who recently narrowed his list of schools to nine.

Louisville was included in that list, alongside Tennessee, USC, Florida State, South Carolina, Miami, Georgia, Ohio State, and Penn State. Regardless of what happens with his recruitment, the fact that Louisville can hang with blueblood programs is definitely something to notice. Jeff Brohm and staff were successful in prying the number one overall linebacker in the Class of 2024 away from Georgia, USC, and Miami as well as potential new blueblood Colorado.

Booker Pickett Jr. is another product of the Sunshine State, which likely means that Recruiting Coordinator John Herron has been active in pursuing the four-star athlete. According to 247 Sports, he is the sixth overall edge rusher in the nation for the Class of 2024. Louisville has been loading up on the defensive side of the ball since Jeff Brohm took over at the helm.

Four-star edge rusher Adonijah Green and four-star linebacker Stanquan Clark in the Class of 2023 headline a group of players that look to explode in Ron English’s defensive system. English and Mark Hagen will split defensive coordinator duties, but both of them are incredible coaches to have on the sidelines.

If Louisville can pry TJ Capers away from Georgia, USC, and Miami, then it’s very possible that they can pry Pickett away from them as well. He would be another elite addition to the incoming class and could add to the legacy that Pierce Clarkson and FlyVille23 are starting to build.
