The first family of Louisville football has officially been reunited with their alma mater. On December 8, 2022, Jeff Brohm was officially announced as the new Head Football Coach for the University of Louisville. Then, on January 13, 2023, his younger brother Brian Brohm was officially announced as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach on his brother’s staff. And finally the eldest Brohm, Greg, was officially announced as the Chief of Staff and Director of Football Operations.

Greg, Jeff, and Brian have traveled together as a family throughout their coaching endeavors. Their first stop was in Bowling Green, Kentucky when they took hold of the Western Kentucky University football program. After three seasons in the Conference USA, Jeff Brohm decided to take on a bigger opportunity with Purdue University and become their Head Football Coach in December 2016.

Now, six years later, the Brohm brothers have returned to their hometown and the University of Louisville after orbiting around Louisville, Kentucky for roughly nine years. From Bowling Green, Kentucky to West Lafayette, Indiana, the three brothers can now rest in their hometown.

In 2018, when the position was opened after Bobby Petrino was fired, it seemed like a no-brainer for them to come home. But, Jeff did not think it was the right time back then. Even though it made the most lateral sense in a lot of people’s minds because he was an assistant under Bobby Petrino in Louisville from 2003-2007, and then remained on-staff through the 2008 season under then-Head Coach Steve Kragthorpe.

Then, in 2014, Bobby Petrino left his head coaching post at Western Kentucky to take the Louisville head coaching position, and two days later Jeff Brohm was named the Head Coach for the Hilltoppers. So, it seemed logical for him to come back home in 2018 when Petrino left for the second time. But, alas that was not the case.

Now that is the case and the city of Louisville could not be more excited. Greg Brohm has always been a more of the behind-the-scenes kind of guy as he has been a shade of Director of Football Operations in each of his previous two stops. He also appeared as the President and offensive coordinator for the Louisville Fire, the local arena football team, when it was still around. And Jeff Brohm served as the Head Coach.

So, it seems as if these brothers have been attached at the hip all of their lives and the trend continues back home as they are in charge of the Louisville football program. Also, joining them is Domenic Reno, the new Director of Strength and Conditioning.

Reno is a former assistant strength coach for the New York Giants, and has worked with Jeff Brohm since his time at Western Kentucky. Jeff Brohm seems to have a trend going where people just follow him wherever he goes, which is a sign of a great leader. Initially hired by Jeff in 2014, Reno followed him to Purdue and in 2020, he was promoted to Director of Strength and Conditioning.

He comes to Louisville with experience in his position and will add another name to the coaching staff.
