Native of Louisville, Kentucky and graduate of Pleasure Ridge Park High School, Beanie Bishop recently announced he was entering his name into the transfer portal.

Once this tweet entered the Twitter-sphere, it did not take long for Louisville fans to swarm to this tweet asking him to come home. Under Scott Satterfield, there was a stigma surrounding local prospects in the city going elsewhere instead of their hometown team. But, now under Head Coach Jeff Brohm, the stigma swings the other way. He and his staff have been seen at high schools all over the state just a few months into the job.

Since Jeff Brohm has been hired, there have been a plethora of players from Louisville who have either come home through the transfer portal, committed here through the high school ranks, or accepted preferred walk-on opportunities. Elite edge rusher and former Trinity High School star Stephen Herron Jr. opened the floodgates once he announced his commitment to Louisville, afte entering the transfer portal as a graduate student out of Stanford University.

Not only did Louisville fans bombard his mentions, but his public announcement also caught the attention of the Louisville football staff because he just announced that he has received a scholarship offer from the University of Louisville.

With the recent trends of local talent flocking back to the state, hopes are definitely high for Beanie to return home. If he does, he would add to an incredibly talented defensive backs room that includes Texas A&M transfer Marquis Groves-Killebrew, Miami transfer Gilbert Frierson, Baylor transfer Devin Neal Jr. and four-star high school recruit Aaron Williams. Plus, under Ron English’s defensive scheme, Bishop could fit right in.

Louisville Twitter’s DaVilleL1C4 quote tweeted an interesting graphic on Beanie’s announcement post.

Digging deeper into the three names in this graphic, you see Beanie Bishop in front, who just received an offer from Louisville, Marquis Groves-Killebrew in the back right who is currently committed to Louisville, and on the left is another cornerback named Malik Fleming out of East Carolina University.

On January 17, 2023, it was reported by 247 Sports writer Stephen Igoe that Malik Fleming had entered his name into the transfer portal as a graduate transfer. If that is intriguing, then just wait. One of Jeff Brohm’s recent additions to his coaching staff was Steve Ellis, who was the cornerbacks coach at East Carolina University.

So, he already has ties to Malik Fleming and could potentially bring this graphic on Twitter to fruition if Beanie Bishop does indeed decide to commit here.
