Could St. John Bosco High School become a farm system for the University of Louisville?

Coming in through the California to Louisville pipeline in the 2023 recruiting cycle are four-star quarterback Pierce Clarkson, four-star cornerback Aaron Williams, three-star wide receiver Jahlil McClain, four-star tight end Jamari Johnson, graduate transfer Stephen Herron Jr. from Stanford University, and last but not least Jack Plummer from the University of California. What is notable about the first three names on that list is that they all went to high school with four-star cornerback Marcelles Williams as St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California.

Last season, the St. John Bosco Braves blew out the Junipero Serra High School Padres 45-0 to win the 2022 CIF State Championship. Marcelles Williams had two interceptions in that game and Aaron Williams had one interception in that game.

They formed a deadly Williams duo in the secondary for the Braves and if Marcelles does decide to commit to the Cardinals, he could continue that trend by teaming up again with Aaron Williams, as well as Pierce Clarkson and Jahlil McClain. If there is any advantage that Louisville has in potentially landing the 6-foot, 180-pound athlete, it is the familiarlity of several of his former teammates linking up in Louisville, Kentucky.

In July 2022, Williams was in-town for the 502 BBQ event that hosted several high school prospects. He told Louisville Report following the visit,

"“The visit went great, I really liked it…We toured the dorms, saw the academic center in the stadium and walked around the facility.”"

Not only is he familiar with some of the players on the roster, but he is also familiar with the facilities and appears to have enjoyed his time here. Fast forward to present day, he is entering his senior season at St. John Bosco and already has several official visits lined up with programs around the country. Some of the ones that have already been reported are Washington, Colorado, LSU, USC, and Ohio State.

All of these schools he mentioned in a recent interview with Greg Biggins, of 247 Sports. But, at the end of the interview he mentioned that he also was considering an official visit back to the University of Louisville.

"“I would love to get back to Miami for an official visit and Louisville too. I already visited both schools before and loved it there.”"

Nearly all, if not all of the top programs around the country are pursuing the highly-coveted cornerback, which speaks to his on-field abilities and his off-the-field character. His recruiting process will definitely be one to watch closely for Cardinal fans, especially as the new coaching staff builds that relationship with him.
