Two class of 2024 prospects, four-star wide receiver Jerrae Hawkins Jr. and three-star running back Jayden Scott, each included the University of Louisville football program in their list of finalists. Hawkins and Scott made their announcements on Monday evening almost simultaneously.

If they were to choose the University of Louisville, they would join a 2024 recruiting class that already features five-star linebacker TJ Capers and four-star running back Isaac Brown.

Jerrae Hawkins Jr.

In the class of 2024, four-star wide receiver Jerrae “Tank” Hawkins Jr. is currently ranked No. 102 overall and No. 18 in the state of Florida by 247Sports. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound prospect out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida received more than 15 offers from programs all over the country. Hawkins revealed his top six schools on Monday, March 13 via Twitter.

The Cards were listed as one of the finalists along with Penn State, Florida, Miami, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. Oregon, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, and Wake Forest were among the schools that made offers to Jerrae Hawkins Jr. but failed to make the cut.

Louisville football Head Coach Jeff Brohm and his staff first extended an offer to Hawkins on January 25th.

Jerrae Hawkins Jr. previously attended Wheeling Park High School in Wheeling, West Virginia before transferring to IMG Academy. During his junior season with Wheeling Park, Hawkins caught 67 passes for 1,173 yards and 14 touchdowns, earning first-team all-state honors.

However, Jerrae Hawkins Jr.’s success was not limited to the football field. As a sophomore at Wheeling Park, he won both the 100- and 200-meter dash at the West Virginia High School State Track Meet, cementing himself as the fastest high schooler in the state.

Jayden Scott

Three-star running back Jayden “Duke” Scott is currently ranked No. 40 overall for his position and No. 51 overall in the state of Georgia by 247Sports. The 5-foot-10 prospect out of Stockbridge High School in Stockbridge, Georgia received over 25 offers from D1 programs and released his Top 7 via Twitter on Monday night.

In addition to the University of Louisville, the other six finalists were Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Rutgers, Duke, Northwestern, and South Carolina. Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Miami, Indiana, and many other programs extended offers but were not included in his final seven schools.

Jayden Scott had previously received an offer from former UofL football Head Coach Scott Satterfield and his staff on April 25, 2022.

Despite Satterfield’s departure from the Louisville football program in December 2022, Scott has maintained an interest in the University of Louisville and is strongly considering joining Jeff Brohm and the new-look Cards in 2024.

During his junior season at Stockbridge High School, Jayden Scott played just five games but averaged 108.4 rushing yards per game, 8.5 yards per carry, and two touchdowns per game. Like Jerrae Hawkins Jr., Scott is one of the top track athletes in his state. In May 2022, he earned third place in the 100-meter dash at the Class 5A GHSA State Track and Field Championship.
