Prior to him announcing his departure from WKU, a source told me that the Hilltoppers were fighting hard to keep McKnight from joining Louisville.
The former Mr. Kentucky Basketball would be an incredible addition to the team, as the Shelbyville, KY native has spent the last three years commanding the Conference USA Hilltoppers. McKnight continued his dominance last season as the WKU point guard averaged 16.5 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 3.8 APG. And his stats from 2021 put him in elite company.
Dayvion McKnight is the only player in the country averaging 15 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal per game.

Only 10 players since 1992 have finished a season averaging those numbers, including Penny Hardaway, Jason Kidd and Luke Walton.#GoTops | @WKUStatsInfo pic.twitter.com/UOtXlC9RpG
Louisville fans are sure to have seen plenty of the strong and shifty guard during his time in Bowling Green. He is a solid ball handler, distributor, rebounder, and scorer from the mid-range and in the paint.
"He makes it look like the simplest shot you could take."

McKnight is also a decent three-point shooter, as he converted on nearly 34% of his three-point attempts last season. But, he does struggle a bit to hold onto the ball, something nearly all Louisville players struggled with last season.
McKnight averaged 3.3 turnovers compared to 3.8 assists per game, so he nearly had a 1:1 assist to turnover ratio, which is not something you want to see from your point guard. But, even with the turnover concerns, McKnight is a no-doubt pickup for the Cards next season. I’d be shocked to see McKnight go anywhere else than Louisville.
