Garwey Dual – 6’5 – Guard – Class of 2023

Unlike the rest of the guys on this list, Garwey Dual isn’t in the transfer portal, but that doesn’t make him any less of an incredible addition to a team in 2023.

Dual had been committed to play for Providence since 2022, but news of Ed Cooley being hired  away from the Friars caused Dual to de-commit.

Dual spent some time close to Louisville in Carmel, Indiana, and is a consensus four-star guard on all recruiting sites. He’s ranked as highly as the 35th best player in the class on Rivals.

A highly-touted senior opening up his recruitment this late into the year is sure to catch a lot of teams’ attention, but Louisville just pulled off a similar move when they signed Dennis Evans just a few weeks after he decommitted from Minnesota, so maybe they can do the same here.

Dual currently plays for Southern California Academy, and he’s lauded for his length and defensive ability. Recruiting analysts also say he’s drastically improved on the offensive side of the ball over the last few months.

You may assume Dual would just follow Ed Cooley on his way to Georgetown, but 247Sports’ Travis Branham says,

"“While it is logical to jump to the conclusion that Dual will follow him to Georgetown, sources close to Dual tell 247Sports that is not necessarily the case and that the highly touted guard will be open to new schools getting involved in his recruitment.”"

I think Louisville should probably look to the transfer portal to fill their guard needs with a veteran presence, but Dual does seem to have incredible intangibles as a 6-foot-5 guard who loves to defend. If he ended up in a Louisville jersey next year, I’d be thrilled.
