Benjamin Blackburn

Benjamin Blackburn is a 6-foot-6, 230-pound tight end who also plays his high school football for the Columbus High School Explorers. He was not mentioned in the tweet by his teammate TJ Capers, but in an interview with Cardinal Craze, Blackburn mentioned that Capers has been recruiting him heavily to join him in Louisville.

And in that same interview, he announced he will be visiting the University of Louisville this weekend. It cannot be a coincidence that the same weekend he is visiting in Louisville, his high school teammates are also visiting in Louisville. More than likely, they are just riding or flying up here separately.

Last season with the Explorers, the big-body tight end recorded 185 yards on 10 receptions in just six games played. However, in those six games, he averaged 30.8 yards per game, which was good enough for third on the team.

Benjamin Blackburn’s recruitment to Louisville gained some serious traction when he received a scholarship offer from the coaching staff on February 14, 2023. Now, almost one month later to the day, he will be on-campus with Jeff Brohm to see the Louisville football program and facilities.

He would be a huge addition to the 2024 class and if he and Daylen Russell both end up committing to the Cardinals, then Columbus High School would become the 2024 version of St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California in the 2023 recruiting cycle because Louisville secured commitments from three athletes on the Braves, in Pierce Clarkson, Aaron Williams, and Jahlil McClain.
