After requesting a trade, which NFL team could land Lamar Jackson?

The NFL Draft is still a month away, but Lamar Jackson's Monday morning tweet has made the NFL all the buzz to end the month of March.rnrnhttps://twitter.com/BleacherReport/status/1640368317935263744rnrnLamar says he requested a trade earlier this month because the Ravens have not been interested in 'meeting his value'. It has been speculated for months that Lamar wants a nearly fully-guaranteed deal, similar to that of Deshaun Watson's contract.rnrnIt has also been clear for months that the Ravens were not going to become the second NFL franchise to fully guarantee a quarterback's contract. So, now that Lamar has let the league know of his trade request, who is most likely to land the former unanimous NFL MVP?rnrn[nextslide teaser="Indianapolis%20Colts" /]rnrn rn Indianapolis Colts - Vegas Odds: +225 (Favorite)rn**Betting odds Based on PointsBet** rnBased on the Twitter buzz, it seems that if Lamar was to leave the Ravens, the Colts would be one of the favorites to land Jackson.rnrnhttps://twitter.com/BTJPod/status/1640049534700068867rnrnAnd it makes sense too. The Colts' Achilles heel last season was their play under center. Last year, they started a combo of Matt Ryan, Sam Ehlinger, and Nick Foles. That trio combined for 17 touchdowns, 20 interceptions, and an unfathomable number of fumbles.rnrnThe Colts also have a decent cast of solid-skill position players to support Lamar with Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, and a decent tight-ends room. The Colts' offensive line and defense both took steps backward last year, but much of that could be blamed on the lackluster quarterback play.rnrnMatt Ryan was a statue in the pocket, leading to a ludicrous amount of sacks, and the stable of struggling quarterbacks constantly left the Colts' defense in bad spots. I'm not sure if the Colts would be my favorite landing spot, based on the talent that would be around Lamar, but I certainly wouldn't hate it. Plus, Lamar would just be a short trip up north away from Louisville fans getting to see him in person.rnrn[nextslide teaser="New%20England%20Patriots" /]rn rn New England Patriots - Vegas Odds: +450 rnI haven't heard as much about the Patriots being a potential landing spot for Lamar, but maybe Bill Belichick is ready to get off the Mac Jones train and hop on the train of a guaranteed winner like Lamar Jackson.rnrnThe Patriots remind me a bit of the Ravens' situation, though. A solid defensive team that lacks the weapons to help him reach his full potential on offense. They did just sign JuJu Smith-Schuster , but I'm not sure he's much better than the wide receivers Lamar has had in the past, like Rashod Bateman or Marquise "Hollywood" Brown.rnrnThey also added Mike Gesicki in the offseason, but he's certainly a downgrade from throwing to Mark Andrews. I think it would be interesting to see Lamar being coached by Bill Belichick, but I'm not sure I have it in me to become a Patriots fan, so here's to hoping this one doesn't happen.rnrn[nextslide teaser="Atlanta%20Falcons" /]rnrn rn Atlanta Falcons - Vegas Odds: +600 rn The Falcons currently hold the 8th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and could use it to draft a player in a position-of-need, or they could use it as trade bait for Lamar Jackson. Atlanta was one of the teams who announced early that they wouldn't pursue Lamar Jackson after he was branded with the non-exclusive franchise tag. But, now that he is available on the trade market, maybe the Falcons reconsider. rnrnThis one makes a lot more sense to me than the Patriots. The Falcons are an up-and-coming team that loves to run the ball and has solid-skill position players. They're just a quarterback away from dominating the NFC South for years to come.rnrnSeeing Lamar Jackson throwing to Kyle Pitts and Drake London would be incredible, and the Falcons already had a strong run game last year. They finished third in the NFL in rush yards per game with nearly 160 yards.rnrnNow, imagine how much scarier that attack could be with Lamar at the center of it.rnrnThe Falcons invested a third-round pick in Desmond Ridder last season, but he didn't do too much to impress in his four games started last year. He threw for less than 200 yards a game and only two passing touchdowns.rnrnI would love to see Lamar end up in Atlanta. The Lions became the darlings of the NFL last season thanks to an exciting offense and an ever-likable head coach in Dan Campbell.rnrnDetroit had an incredible offense last season with Jared Goff at the helm. Now think of what they could do with Lamar. They finished top-five in points per game last season, thanks to a strong offensive line and a bevy of talented skill position players.rnrnIf traded to the Lions, Lamar would be playing with Amon-Ra St. Brown, DeAndre Swift, David Montgomery, Jameson Williams, and many more. The Lions do need help on the defensive side of the ball, but a Lamar-led Lions attack would be nightmare fuel for all 31 opposing NFL defenses.rnrnSign me up for Lamar Jackson in those beautiful blue jerseys a hundred times out of a hundred. To me, this is my dream landing spot for Lamar. To go from Tom Brady to Lamar Jackson is an idea that would send Jets fans into a coma.rnrnAccording to SportsBet, the Buccaneers have the fifth-best odds to land Lamar. I could see Jackson wanting to get closer to home and wanting to throw to two of the NFL's best receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.rnrnThe Buccaneers would be a great short-term landing spot for Lamar, but I'm not sure how long the team around him would remain elite. The offensive line struggled mightily to keep Tom Brady upright last season and Mike Evans is almost 30.rnrnI think this would be about as talented as a team that Lamar could land on, but with an older surrounding cast and some cap room issues , I'm not sure if this is the best landing spot for him. Plus, the Buccaneers were such a pass-heavy team last year (first in the league with 45 attempts per game). I'm not sure if adding Lamar makes a ton of sense with the scheme they've run in the past.rnrn[nextslide teaser="New%20York%20Jets" /]rnrn rn New York Jets - Vegas Odds: +900 rnThe New York Jets have been hot on the Aaron Rodgers train for more than a month now, but, with no trade between the Packers and Jets coming out, maybe the Jets decide to look in a different direction?rnrnA commitment to Lamar would be much more long-term, but the money they'd have to pay for the next two years would be similar. Rodgers signed a three-year contract, worth $150 million dollars last year with the Green Bay Packers.rnrnAs of now, Lamar Jackson is set to be owed $32.4 million dollars for this upcoming season and will be a free agent in 2024, unless he inks a long-term contract extension with a new team.rnrnThe Jets would be another incredible team for Lamar to land on. I'm just not sure how likely it is to happen. Lamar might pass out when he sees the number of weapons he'd have at his disposal with the Jets: Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Corey Davis, Mecole Hardman, Tyler Conklin, and C.J. Uzomah? That's an incredible combo of players for Lamar to target, and many of them are pretty young.rnrnThe Jets went 7-10 last year, and that's with Zach Wilson doing everything he could to keep them from improving.
