Week 2 Transfer Portal Update:

So far, more than 1800 players have entered their names into the transfer portal, and, although the college basketball season still has a week left, all eyes are on the portal in Louisville, Kentucky.

Last week, I wrote about who the school had reached out to, but with every passing day, we see more and more high-profile recruits entering the portal.

If El Ellis does not return, the Cardinals will have three open scholarship spots remaining. With the addition of Skyy Clark, the Cards roster currently sits like this:

  • Guard – Skyy Clark – Sophomore
  • Guard – Mike James- Sophomore
  • Guard – Hercy Miller – Walk-on – Junior
  • Guard – Koron Davis – Junior
  • Forward – JJ Traynor- Senior
  • Forward – Kaleb Glenn – Freshman
  • Forward – Curtis Williams Jr. – Freshman
  • Forward – Trentyn Flowers – Freshman
  • Forward/Center – Emmanuel Okorafor – Sophomore
  • Forward/Center – Brandon Huntley-Hatfield – Junior
  • Center – Dennis Evans – Freshman

Looking at the current state of the roster and at the players the coaching staff has already reached out to, Louisville needs to add guards. Skyy Clark is the only scholarship player on the roster that is a true point guard, and outside of Clark and Mike James, the Cardinals have no proven perimeter players.

I could also see the staff looking to add one more post-player, as well. Adding another center to the roster could help Louisville matchup against larger teams and help bring along freshman Dennis Evans.

So let’s take a look at who the staff has reached out to recently, and let’s look at the updates on the players the staff reached out to the week prior.
