Keyon Menifield – Guard – 6’1 – University of Washington

Keyon Menifield is another recent addition to the transfer portal, so it’s much too early in the process to figure out where he’s expected to go, but, as many expected, Louisville is one of the many schools to reach out to the shifty guard.

And it makes sense. Louisville’s biggest issue last year was guard play, and potentially swapping out El Ellis for Skyy Clark isn’t going to improve that, so the Cardinals need to look to add more high-quality ball handlers.

Menifield came to Washington last year outside of the Top 200 in the class of 2022, but that ranking didn’t stop him from producing for the Huskies this year.

The ever-elusive guard put up 10 points and 3 assists per game on 41% shooting last year. Those numbers may not be the greatest, but he had some huge flashes in his freshman year.

Menifield had six different games where he scored 20+ points for the Huskies. Those are the types of flashes you’re looking to see from a freshman who could take the next step in his sophomore year. Those explosive games and overall numbers were good enough to get Menifield on the Pac-12 All-Freshman team, as well.

And some recruiting experts expect Louisville to be one of the favorites to land Menifield’s services.

As far as I can tell, Louisville never had much interest in the Flint, Michigan native in high school, but Menifield does have a connection to incoming freshman Curtis Williams Jr. The two both played for the Detroit-based AAU team “The Family”.
