Louisville basketball: Updating who the Cardinals are looking at in the transfer portal

Reese Dixon-Waters – 6’5 – Guard – University of Southern California

Staying out on the West coast, Reese Dixon-Waters is a more experienced shot maker that could start or come off the bench and make a huge impact for the Cardinals next season.

The three-year NCAA veteran saw his role increase each year at USC, and, after a successful Junior campaign that saw him win a postseason accolade, he announced his intent to leave the Trojans.

Clearly, Louisville isn’t the only high-profile school interested in this scorer, and there are plenty of reasons why. Dixon-Waters averaged 9.8 PPG, 3.2 RPG, and 1.0 APG in just 25 minutes a night. Those numbers may not seem impressive, but a quick look at some of his highlights shows he’s a bucket-getter.

In 2021, Dixon-Waters shot 46% from behind the arc. That number dropped significantly to 30% this year, but I’m sure his average is probably somewhere in the middle of that.

I know he’s not as big of a name as some of the other players that Louisville is interested in, but I think he’d be a solid addition to the roster. He’s a guy that will be able to create his own shot, something we didn’t see much last year; and he’s a player that clearly doesn’t mind starting or coming off the bench, another thing that is rare to find with players in the transfer portal.
