The University of Cincinnati hired Scott Satterfield as their Head Coach back in December 2022, and at the time it left the Louisville football program with a lot of questions. But, those questions were quickly answered with the homecoming of Jeff Brohm, former Louisville quarterback under legendary Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger and assistant coach under Head Coach Bobby Petrino.

Instantaneously, Jeff Brohm instilled life into this Louisville football program that was sucked out of it when he decided not to return back to Louisville and stay at Purdue in 2018. The overall excitement that filled the city of Louisville upon his return exceeded its own city limits.

Jeff Brohm is a lightning rod for the University of Louisville and the football program, and the electricity between these two coming together again reached the national spotlight. Part of the buzz surrounding his coming back to his alma mater is that he is a disciple of Howard Schnellenberger who has one of the most famous quotes in Louisville football history.

"“The University of Louisville is on a collision course with the national championship and the only variable is time.”"

Jeff Brohm reiterated this desire in a recent interview with SiriusXM’s Chris Spatola. On3’s Nick Kosko transcripted the interview of Brohm saying these words:

"“You know, when you look at the ACC, of course Clemson has been at the top and they played some really, really good football and they have high caliber talent on their team and won big games. So they’re the team that you have to beat and then of course, you see others that have stepped up, like Florida State, North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, Miami, Louisville at times…But if you do you got a chance to play for a championship, you got a chance to play for a national championship and that’s what’s exciting. You’ve got all the pieces in place that if you do your part as a coach and players, you recruit well, you develop and you find a way to win games. You can play against the Alabama’s and the Georgia’s and the teams like that for national championships. And that’s got to be the goal and at some point to try to attain.”"

The middle brother of Louisville’s first football family could very well take the Cardinals to an ACC Championship and ultimately a National Championship. He hasn’t joined the team on the sidelines for an official game yet, and his impact on the program has been immense.

Since being hired here on December 8, 2022, he has brought in Stephen Herron Jr., Jamari Thrash, Kevin Coleman, Jack Plummer, and several other highly talented transfers to bolster a 2023 recruiting class that included Pierce Clarkson, Adonijah Green, Stanquan Clark, Madden Sanker, Luke Burgess, among others.

And several of the members of the 2023 recruiting class committed under the old regime, so the fact that he could convince them to stay speaks to his ability to coach, recruit, and keep talent. At the rate he’s going, Jeff Brohm’s impact on the Louisville football program could be felt for a very long time.
