Tylor Perry – Guard – 5’11 – North Texas
With the news of El’s departure, the staff has to be productive in finding a replacement for the high scoring perimeter player, and North Texas’ Tylor Perry would be just that.
Perry spent the last two seasons with the Mean Green, and the 2023 CUSA Player of the Year put up a nasty stat line this season, as he led them to an NIT Championship.
Perry fits a similar mold as Ellis. A shooting guard playing as a point guard due to his lack of size. Perry put up 17.3 PPG, 3.4 RPG, & 2.1 APG, and his percentages on that high level of scoring are even more impressive.
Perry shot 44% from the field and over 40% from the three point line (with more than 7 attempted threes per game).
Louisville is among a long list of high major schools interested in Perry, but, with Ellis leaving, they may be one of the best schools with playing time available at the guard spot.
It’s been just a few days since Perry entered the portal, but he’s already taking a visit with another school.
As we saw last month, Louisville has no issue with taking a player away from Minnesota, so I’m not too worried about his visit up north.
I’m not sure if Perry fits Kenny Payne’s mold of an ideal guard in his system, with him being under 6’0 and under 180 pounds, but the kid is clearly very talented, and he could help fill a scoring void left by the departure of Ellis. Oh, and he’s also CLUTCH.
