2024 four-star RB Derrick McFall includes Louisville in his Top 6 schools
Tyler, Texas running back Derrick McFall has recently trimmed down the schools he is considering. The consensus four-star running back would make an immediate impact on whatever program he decides to join. Last night, he released a graphic indicating the six programs he is considering: Texas A&M, Alabama, Texas, Florida, TCU, and Louisville.
Louisville will be competing for his services with three in-state schools, a perennial powerhouse, and the Florida Gators, who have been hot on the recruiting trail recently.
The four-star running back currently plays for the Tyler High School Lions, and his production greatly exceeds the team’s level of play. Finishing last season with a 2-8 record, the Lions struggled, but not without Derrick McFall putting up a fight.
In 10 games, he recorded 445 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, 218 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, 226 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown, and 40 yards off kick returns. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound athlete was the focal point of the Lions’ offense, but it just wasn’t enough to will them to success.
With that kind of success on a less-than-stellar season for Tyler High School, McFall’s ability to play at multiple positions will translate to the next level and he should not have a problem transitioning to the Division I level.
The University of Louisville would be a great fit for a talent like Derrick McFall.
Head Coach Jeff Brohm and his staff just extended a scholarship offer to him just nine days ago. So, for the Cardinals to end up in his top-six programs says a lot about what he sees in this offense.
In a recent interview with On3’s Chad Simmons, he had this to say about the University of Louisville:
"“As for Louisville, McFall said that the Cardinals’ coaching staff have told him that they see a lot of potential in his game to excel both in college and after. They’re saying I could come in as a freshman and immediately play,” McFall said. “They’re saying I have the type of potential to win a Heisman and stuff like that. I’d have a great opportunity there to make it to the next level quick and easy.”"
It appears Jeff Brohm and staff think very highly of this young man and with his ability to produce on the football field at a high level, it’s no secret why the Cardinals are in on him. McFall has yet to make a visit up to campus, but if he does, there is no doubt he will enjoy it here.
