Former Louisville forward Jae’Lyn Withers has committed to the University of North Carolina, per Joe Tipton.

The 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward committed to Louisville under former Head Coach Chris Mack as a member of the Class of 2019. In three seasons played, he averaged 7.9 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 0.6 assists per game.

Withers was a former four-star recruit and the No. 3 overall player in the state of Ohio coming out of high school. He averaged just over 25 minutes per game last season, but after a disappointing season finishing 4-28, he decided it was best to look for a fresh start.

So, he announced he was entering the transfer portal on March 20th. After nearly a month on the transfer portal market, he elected to commit to his former ACC foe in the North Carolina Tar Heels. North Carolina began last season as the preseason No. 1 team but ended up failing to make the NCAA Tournament.

Long-time UNC guard Caleb Love recently announced his commitment to the University of Michigan, so Jae’Lyn Withers will be joining a new-look Tar Heels team under Head Coach Hubert Davis. Paxson Wojcik is the only other transfer who has committed to the Tar Heels at this point in time, and he is coming in from Brown University.

Withers is now the second former Cardinal to commit to a Division I program, following Kamari Lands who recently committed to Arizona State University.
