RJ Luis – Guard – 6’7 – UMass

The former 3-star recruit hit the portal last week, and originally wasn’t shown any interest by the staff, but fast forward to this week and the staff is one of the latest to come calling.

Though he was ranked outside of the top-200 in the class of 2022, Luis had a big impact on the Minutemen this last season.

Luis averaged 11.5 PPG, 4.6 RPG, & 1.3 APG on 46% FG. He also shot 35% from the three point line.

Those numbers were good enough to land him on the A-10 All Freshman team, as Luis came on strong towards the end of the season.

Luis did average more then 2 TO’s per game on less than 25 minutes a night, so that is a concern for fans that watched Louisville constantly give the other team the ball last year.

But, I think Luis would be a solid contributor to our backcourt. He’d only be a sophomore next year, and he’s got the size that Kenny Payne loves. Plus, he can also shoot the ball.

Unfortunately, for Louisville fans, Luis is scheduling visits with other teams.

Luis would contribute immensely to this team, as we need more guards. I’m not sure if he’s a player that can come in and play 30 minutes a night at the 2-guard, but adding Luis and one more transfer guard would give Louisville a much stronger backcourt than we saw last year.
