LSU point guard Cam Hayes has entered his name into the transfer portal, per On3 Sports.

This is the second time the 6-foot-3, 175-pound point guard has entered the transfer portal. Coming out of high school, Cam Hayes was a consensus four-star prospect and a Top-100 recruit in the Class of 2020. He committed to North Carolina State and would play there for two seasons.

In 55 games with the Wolfpack, Hayes averaged 7.3 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game, and 2.5 assists per game. His time in Raleigh, North Carolina came to an end because his play from his freshman year to his sophomore year declined. Head Coach Kevin Keatts handed the starting point guard position over to Dereon Seabron, forcing Hayes to come off the bench.

He eventually became uncomfortable in the Wolfpack offense, saw his playing time decrease, and would then seek a new university to call home.

After two seasons at NC State, Cam Hayes committed to LSU and Head Coach Matt McMahon. But, the marriage between Hayes and Baton Rouge only lasted one season as he is again looking for a new home. While a member of the Tigers, he averaged 8.1 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game, and 2.3 assists per game.

It is important to note that the University of Louisville offered Cam Hayes coming out of high school. And now, according to The Portal Report, Louisville has reached out to the LSU transfer guard.

Of the teams listed, Louisville is by far the most prominent of the schools and at the top of the list. So, it leaves one to wonder if the Cardinals are heavily involved in his recruitment. That report came out three days ago and there still hasn’t been a report of an official visit, but Cam Hayes to Louisville could definitely be a real possibility.

The Louisville men’s basketball program has three open scholarships remaining, and per a report by Rivals’ Ty Spalding, it is likely that the three spots will be filled by two guards and one big man. Could Cam Hayes be one of the guards? Stay tuned to find out.
