Yesterday, Head Women’s Basketball Coach Jeff Walz landed a commitment from James Madison University graduate transfer Kiki Jefferson, per her Twitter page.

Kiki Jefferson is a huge commitment for the Cardinals as she was down to the University of Louisville and the University of North Carolina. A big recruiting win for Head Coach Jeff Walz over UNC Head Coach Courtney Banghart.

The 6-foot-1 guard adds an important piece to Louisville’s depleted backcourt. Her and recent addition Jayda Curry will create a dynamic duo that Louisville fans will rave over watching.

Kiki Jefferson started the majority of her games last season alongside 5-foot-8 guard Jamia Hazell and 5-foot-7 guard Caroline Germond. Jefferson was the primary scoring option out of the three guards, as she averaged 18.3 points per game and her counterparts averaged 8.4 and 4.6 points per game, respectively.

In the case of Jayda Curry, she was also the primary scoring option last season for the California Golden Bears. She started the majority of her games alongside 5-foot-5 Leilani McIntosh and 6-foot guard Kemery Martin. Martin averaged 10.6 points per game last season, while McIntosh averaged 9.6 points per game. Curry led the way with 15.5 points per game.

The two leading scorers for the Golden Bears and the Dukes now will combine their talents in the backcourt for the Louisville Cardinals and Head Coach Jeff Walz. Kiki Jefferson is used to sharing the floor with a guard of Jayda Curry’s size, and the same could be said for Jayda Curry.

So, it will be fun to watch these two bucket-getters fill it up for Louisville this upcoming season.
