Top 10 Point Guards in Louisville Men’s Basketball History

6. LaBradford Smith (1987-1991)

Former Texas Mr. Basketball LaBradford Smith is the UofL men’s basketball all-time leader in assists with 713 dimes dished out in four seasons with the Cards. Smith also ranks eighth in scoring, fourth in steals, and first in free throws made.

LaBradford Smith led the Cards to three consecutive Metro Conference Tournament championships (1988-1990) and won the Most Outstanding Player Award in the 1991 Metro Conference Tournament despite Louisville losing in the championship game to Florida State.

With LaBradford Smith as their starting point guard, UofL managed to make two Sweet Sixteen appearances in the NCAA Tournament (1988, 1989). Smith finished his career at the University of Louisville averaging 13.6 points, 5.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 48.1% from the field and 86.6% from the free-throw line.
