1. Butch Beard (1966-1969)

Alfred “Butch” Beard Jr. is one of two players in Louisville men’s basketball history to average more than 20.0 points per game in multiple seasons. Beard was a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) first-team selection and an All-American during the 1968-1969 season.

He played two seasons alongside fellow Louisville legend Wes Unseld, and the two are considered by many fans to be the greatest duo in program history.

Leading the Cards to three-consecutive MVC regular season championships and back-to-back Sweet Sixteen appearances (1967, 1968), Butch Beard finished his Louisville career averaging 19.0 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 49.0% from the field.
