Louisville basketball: Transfer portal update. Who’s trending to the Cardinals? Vol. 5

The more I write this article, the more I’m starting to believe that Rick Pitino got a hold of Kenny Payne’s recruiting board.

Make this the third player that Pitino has shown interest in after Louisville had reached out first.

I’m not extremely upset to see Conway off the board. He had been trending away from Louisville for weeks now. And Conway, honestly, isn’t that great of an impact transfer. He’s a good shooter, and any team can use that, but I don’t think he would’ve been anything more than a depth wing piece for next year’s team.

With the need in the backcourt, this team can certainly use their remaining three scholarships in a better way. Last week, I ended this article hoping for a new commitment, and that didn’t happen.

But we do seem closer to actually signing somebody now that RJ Luis has taken a visit. A combination of Luis, Mgbako, and Cam Hayes would be an incredible way to round out this roster, and that is still very much a possibility.
