Churchill Abass – Forward/Center – 6’9 – Class of 2023

The transfer portal has kept the Class of 2023 quite interesting, even this late into the year.

Louisville fans are sure to be extremely familiar with the name Churchill Abass by now, as the coaching staff and local media members have flirted with the African-born big for months now.

After signing Okorafor, rumors swirled that the staff was interested in signing one more player from the NBA Academy Africa team, and that player turned out to be Churchill Abass.

Fast forward a few months, and Kenny Payne is flying halfway across the world to visit with Abass and the rest of the players at NBA Academy Africa.

But still, no news of a commitment, or even a visit? An alleged DM to Abass may have found the answer why.

I’m not a fan of sliding into high school recruits DM’s, so I’m not exactly proud of Card Nation for doing this, but it is still news, nonetheless.

Also, an important note, the person who tweeted this clarified that this isn’t him direct messaging Abass.

Who knows who it is? Maybe they have a relationship? But I still think it’s probably best to stay out of the DM’s of high school boys unless you want a meeting with Chris Hansen.

I think Abass would be a good addition to the roster. He wouldn’t be an immediate impact signing like a few of the other guys I’ve already written about, but I think he could come in and give 10-15 minutes a night of great effort off the bench in his freshman year.

And I think he’d eventually turn into a solid college basketball player.
