Danilo Jovanovich – Forward – 6’8″ – Miami

I’m going, to be honest. I’m at a bit of a loss for words, which is something that almost never happens to me.

Apparently, there was a player named Danilo Jovanovich on Miami’s basketball team last year, and now the staff has added him to the team?

Talk about moving in silence. This one came completely out of nowhere. No rumors on Twitter about the staff being interested in him. No mention of a visit to campus, which clearly happened. No nothing.

Jovanovich played just two minutes for the Hurricanes in an early season game last year before Jim Larranaga decided he should redshirt.

Jovanovich was ranked as a three-star recruit and the 190th-best player in the Class of 2022, according to Rivals.

Here is a highlight reel from a 40-point game he had at Whitnall in Milwaukee.

He does seem to be pretty skilled for his size, but, just based on that tape, I’m worried about his athleticism and ability to shoot from three.

ESPN did have him ranked as a four-star player and the 27th-best power forward in the class in 2022, though. Honestly, it’s a little too early to give a well-thought-out reaction and write-up on this guy. It also seems very difficult to find much tape on him.

On one hand, I’m happy the staff finally got someone out of the portal, but, on the other hand, how could this be the best we could do? There have been, and still are, so many talented forwards in the portal, but we land a former three-start recruit that did not redshirt last year?

This is giving me Fabio Basili vibes all over again. Maybe this kid is underrated and a diamond in the rough.

I’ll try to find some full games of his soon and break them down, but adding a forward that played two minutes last year to a Louisville team that needs ball handlers and experience just doesn’t make sense to me. Here’s to hoping I am wrong.
