Four-star Georgia transfer cornerback Marcus Washington just announced his commitment to the University of Louisville, per his Instagram page. It was recently announced that he scheduled an official visit to the University of Louisville campus on April 25th.

All signs point to that visit going well as he is now the newest member of the Louisville Cardinals football team. Coming out of high school, Marcus Washington was a consensus four-star prospect, the No. 147 overall player in the nation in the Class of 2022, the No. 18 overall cornerback prospect in the Class of 2022, and the No. 16 overall player in the state of Georgia.

His resume caught the eye of Georgia Head Football Coach Kirby Smart, so much so that he offered Washington a scholarship on April 26, 2021, and on May 15, 2021, he committed to the Bulldogs. As a member of the Bulldogs for one season, he would go on to win a National Championship, but unfortunately, he sat on the sidelines for most of his time in Athens.

He only saw the field one-time last season in a blowout game against Samford. It is likely for this reason that he decided to enter the transfer portal on April 22, 2023. It didn’t take long for Louisville Head Coach Jeff Brohm to reach out to the Top-150 player and express his interest in having him join the Cardinals program.

He was officially on campus this past weekend and enjoyed it so much that he followed it up with an official commitment on Monday. Marcus Washington joins an incredibly talented class of incoming secondary additions through the transfer portal, including Storm Duck, Cam’Ron Kelly, Gilbert Frierson, Marquis Groves-Killebrew, and Devin Neal Jr.

With Defensive Coordinator Ron English’s four-two-five defensive scheme, secondary depth is key for success, so Jeff Brohm and staff have gone out and added some elite names to this team. Not to mention, four-star cornerback Aaron Williams from St. John Bosco High School is joining the team, but he is unlikely to see a lot of playing time this upcoming season due to his recovery from a torn ACL injury.

Earlier today, Cardinal Authority’s Jody Demling submitted a Crystal Ball prediction on the 247Sports website for Washington to come to Louisville and just a few hours later, it came true.

Jeff Brohm is not slowing down in the transfer portal as he continues to add elite players. Next season will be fun to watch for Louisville football fans.
