Trevonte Sylvester – Three-Star Transfer from Houston – 6’5″ – 300 Pounds

The former teammate of offensive lineman Lance Robinson reunites with him at the University of Louisville. Trevonte Sylvester was a consensus three-star recruit in the Class of 2020 and had very minimal interest from Division I programs. In fact, per 247Sports, he only received offers from the University of Houston and Louisiana Tech.

He chose the Cougars and would enroll in the Lone Star State in the middle of COVID, in October 2020. Sylvester did not see any game action during his true freshman season and the second season he was in Houston, he was redshirted. As a result, he did not see any game action for another entire year and was itching to plant his feet in the turf.

Well, his time came during the 2022-2023 season when he appeared in 12 games and recorded 114 snaps. He primarily played the left tackle position as the backup. 72 of the 114 snaps were on special teams with the remaining 42 snaps on regular drives. He allowed no sacks or quarterback hits in 16 tries.

It appears he is only dipping into his potential on the football field and it will be exciting to watch him play out his college career in Jeff Brohm’s offense. Sylvester initially entered the transfer portal in March of this year and committed to the Cal Golden Bears just a mere 11 days ago. But, eight days later, he finds himself to be a Cardinal.

He makes the sixth transfer portal addition for Jeff Brohm just on the offensive line. It’s very clear that he believes games are won and lost in the trenches, and he is bulking up the offensive line with some serious depth.
