Willie Tyler III – Three-Star Transfer from Rutgers – 6’7″ – 330 Pounds

Willie Tyler has had quite a journey thus far in his collegiate career. Coming out of high school, Tyler was a consensus three-star prospect and the No. 10 overall player in the state of Wisconsin for the Class of 2019, which is impressive considering he isn’t a skill-position player. Tyler started his collegiate career on the defensive side of the ball at Garden City Junior College.

It was there at Garden City that the coaches wanted him to switch to the offensive side of the ball, but he was hesitant to do so. So, he left the state of Kansas to go back home to Wisconsin to rethink his path forward. It wasn’t too long after he moved back home that Iowa Western Community College came calling.

It was in Iowa that he grew as a player and as an offensive lineman, which began to attract him to Division I programs. After finishing junior college, he accepted an offer to play for the University of Texas. However, he was unable to see the field much, so he transferred to a less prestigious school in Louisiana-Monroe. It was there he was able to start nine games for the Warhawks.

After one season in Louisiana, he decided to transfer again. This time it was to Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He spent one season in New Jersey and started nine games for the Scarlet Knights while there. His next stop is Louisville, Kentucky where he can provide the Cardinals’ offensive line with much collegiate experience.
