Tre White – Transfer from USC – 6’7″ – 190 Pounds

Tre White was a consensus four-star prospect coming out of high school and a Top-50 player in the country. He committed to the University of Southern California last offseason as a member of the Class of 2022. But, after one season with the Trojans, he decided to enter his name into the transfer portal.

As a senior in high school, White held offers from USC, LSU, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Kansas, among others. Originally a native of Texas, he played high school basketball at Prolific Prep in Napa, California. So, committing to the Trojans was a mere seven-hour drive.

During his lone season in Los Angeles, he averaged 9.1 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 1.0 assist per game. But, his time in the Golden State appears to be coming to an end as he explores his options in the transfer portal.

The list of prestigious Division I schools that have reached out to him is rather extensive. It includes LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Georgetown, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio State, and Louisville, among others. He has an incredible upside and many programs would love for him to join their program.

247Sports’ Jerry Meyer wrote this scouting report on Tre White when he was coming out of high school:

"“A powerfully built small forward at 6-6. An explosive leaper off two feet. Has functional basketball athleticism and versatility skill wise. A keep the defense honest long range shooter. Prefers to score off the dribble. Has a reliable pull up jumper and can finish in traffic. Handles the ball well and can be a playmaker with his passing. Can rebound in traffic and will chase down a rebound. Defensively, can typically adequately defend any position.”"

According to On3, he is a four-star transfer prospect and his recruitment is heavily favoring Kenny Payne and the Cardinals. As of the time of this article, the Recruiting Prediction Machine has Louisville with a 97.3% chance to land Tre White, while Alabama has a 2.7% chance.

He visited Louisville on April 28th and followed it up with a visit to UCF. But, it doesn’t appear that the Knights are in the mix for his recruiting. Alabama Head Basketball Coach Nate Oats is pursuing him heavily at this point and is reportedly supposed to take a visit there, although no official visit has been announced yet.

Much like RJ Luis, a commitment date has not been set yet, but it will be interesting to watch the remainder of his recruitment unfold.
