Churchill Abass – Forward/Center – Class of 2023
Last week, I highlighted Churchill Abass’s visit to DePaul, and a week later he officially became a Blue Demon.
NEWS: Churchill Abass, a powerful and athletic 2023 big man out of NBA Academy Africa, has committed to DePaul, a source tells @247Sports.

Louisville’s love affair with the African-born big man began months ago after he impressed at an American tournament that featured the NBA Academy Africa team Abass played on.
Combine that with Kenny Payne traveling to Africa a few weeks ago, and some fans believed Abass was a lock for next year’s team. But after the team added Danilo Jovanovich (I’m calling him DJ) and the staff’s continued courting of Mackenzie Mgbako, it seemed less and less likely Abass would end up on the team.
I think Abass will end up being a great player for DePaul, but he just didn’t make sense for next year’s team. He’s a PF/C that’s relatively new to the sport, and that showed in his game.
