The buzz surrounding the University of Louisville has been immense lately. Between Kenny Payne, Jeff Walz, and Jeff Brohm, the energy in Louisville is unmatched. And that buzz continues with 2024 four-star guard Ava Watson announcing the Top 5 schools she’s considering.

Ava Watson is a 5-foot-7 guard and currently plays for Buford High School in Buford, Georgia. According to Prospects Nation, she has the Elite 150 stamp of approval and lauds herself as a highly coveted prospect. Last season, as a junior, she averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 4.3 steals. An impressive stat line that earned her MaxPreps Junior All-American Team honors, albeit as an honorable mention.

Her elite ball skills and ability to put the ball in the basket at will helped lead her team to the state quarterfinals last season. In a game against Cherokee High School, she put up 31 points with five three-pointers while shooting 100% from the free-throw line. Her head coach, Gene Durden, praised her after her impressive performance:

"“She’s a complete player who is not scared for the big moment,” Durden said. “She can do a lot of things and is a great team leader.”"

A complete player and a great team leader seem like two high-quality characteristics that Jeff Walz is looking for in recruits. If he does pry her away from her hometown Bulldogs, she would be an incredible get. Plus, her personality would fit in here. Her pre-game routine involves eating Chick-fil-A and listening to Lil Baby.

Louisville has tons of Chick-fil-A’s so that works out well for her, plus she could be a part of a special program that Jeff Walz continues to build.
