The final scholarship has officially been handed out. New York product Ty-Laur Johnson has officially committed to the University of Louisville.

Ty-Laur Johnson is a former Memphis commit, but he recently de-committed from Head Coach Penny Hardaway.

Johnson is a 6-foot, 160-pound point guard from New York. According to 247Sports, he is the consensus No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2023 in the state of New York. Landing Johnson is a massive win for Kenny Payne because not only does it help secure one of the best recruiting classes that Louisville has had in some time, but it also gives the Cardinals another very capable ball-handling guard.

Recruit the Bronx scout David Cordova had this to say about the four-star prospect,

"“A guard that has excellent court vision and is able to showcase his playmaking ability to the fullest. Has the ability to showcase his athleticism, as he can also go up for a dunk. Is a great distributor when it comes to his teammates going towards the basket.”"

He will be a great addition to a backcourt of Skyy Clark, Trentyn Flowers, and Koron Davis. I would expect Tre White and Mike James to share the three-spot if Johnson gets a decent amount of playing time. Now, the roster is complete and it looks like this:

  • Guard – Skyy Clark
  • Guard – Ty-Laur Johnson
  • Guard – Trentyn Flowers
  • Guard – Mike James
  • Guard – Hercy Miller
  • Guard – Koron Davis
  • Guard – Curtis Williams Jr.
  • Guard/Forward – Tre White
  • Forward – Kaleb Glenn
  • Forward – JJ Traynor
  • Forward – Danilo Jovanovich
  • Forward/Center – Emmanuel Okorafor
  • Forward/Center – Brandon Huntley-Hatfield
  • Center – Dennis Evans
