Willie Tyler III – OL – Texas/UL Monroe/Rutgers – 3-Star Transfer

Now, it’s time to get to the guys that will really make this offense move!

Louisville came into this offseason with some glaring holes at WR, TE, LB, & DB, but none more glaring than the depth issues we had on the offensive line.

Jeff Brohm saw this weakness and turned it into a strength by adding SIX transfer offensive linemen to the team.

First up is former Rutgers offensive tackle, and giant human being, (6’7 330 lbs.) Willie Tyler.

The former Scarlet Knight has been on a lot of different campuses during his college career. Tyler III began his career in high school primarily playing defensive line. Right out of high school, he played one season at Iowa Western CC, then transferred to Texas; where he saw no playing time for two years.

After two years on the sidelines in Austin, Tyler III finally got a fresh start and a chance to start at left tackle at Louisiana-Monroe, and after a successful junior year, he transferred to Rutgers in 2022.

With the Scarlet Knights, he started in 9 of their 11 games at left tackle, but for his final season in college, Tyler III has chosen to call Louisville home.

Offensive linemen don’t rack up too many stats, so it’s always hard to tell how good they’ll be coming into a new program, but Tyler III was also offered by Arizona State & Mississippi State as a transfer.

Those are two pretty solid football schools, so I’d expect Tyler III to have a solid chance to start somewhere on the line.
