Kevin Coleman – WR – Jackson State – 4-Star Transfer

The former top-60 recruit in class of 2022 Kevin Coleman is the other 4-star receiver to join the Cards this offseason.

Coleman was part of an incredible class of recruits pulled in by Deion Sanders in his final season at Jackson State, and when Primetime left for Colorado most assumed Coleman would go with him.

But Jeff Brohm and his staff swooped in, and picked him away from the former pro bowler. Coleman had a ridiculous high school career in St. Louis, racking up more than 4,000 yards and 70 touchdowns.

And in his first year in college, Coleman put up a solid stat line of 33 receptions, 510 yards, and 3 TDs.

And his best game came at the end of the year when he put up 7 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown against North Carolina Central in the Cricket Celebration Bowl.

The competition he faced in the SWAC certainly isn’t as good as the ACC, but putting up 500+ yards in your true freshman season is nothing to scoff at.

Coleman is listed at 5’10 & around 170 pounds, so he doesn’t have the largest frame, but he should be able to burn most DB’s with his electrifying speed.

With his smaller stature, I’d expect to Coleman to start in the slot a lot this year. Coleman is one of the younger receivers on the team this year, with Jamari Thrash, Jadon Thompson, Jimmy Calloway, and Amari Huggins-Bruce all being upperclassmen, but I think his talent will shine through.

I expect a solid year for the true sophomore who should be a focal point on offense for the Cards for, at least, the next two years.
