No. 3: Dominate the line of scrimmage

Louisville absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage last week against Notre Dame, and they will need to continue that streak against Pitt on Saturday.

Pitt only averages around 115 rushing yards a game and has gave up 13 sacks through 5 games this season. Louisville will need to pressure the quarterback and stuff the Pitt offensive line if they want to have the most success. Pitt has not been able to throw the ball very well either, so they will likely go to the run game first to see if it will work for them first.

Pitt will be starting a new quarterback this week (Christian Veilleux) and will likely elect to not use him if they don’t have to. If the Cardinals can pressure and make him uncomfortable he will likely be rattled all night long and make aarant throws.

If the Cardinals dominate the line of scrimmage early and have success by getting up multiple scores, Pitt will have to throw the ball. Pitt has the 113th ranked passing offense in the league and is dead last in passing yards in the ACC. If louisville can stop the run game and dominate the line of scrimmage Pitt almost has no chance to win this football game.

Sack the quarterback and blitz everywhere should be Jeff Brohm’s game plan for Pitt.
