Where does Louisville go after their 17-Point loss to Pitt?

The Louisville Cardinals suffered their first loss of the season last night when they traveled to take on Pitt. Louisville came into the game 6-0 (3-0) and Pitt was 1-4 (0-2). The game finished with Louisville leaving Pittsburgh with their first loss and tarnishing their perfect conference record.

Louisville was -7.0 point favorites going into this game and you could feel it in the air as soon as the game kicked off that this one would be different. The Cardinals needed to play good football, and the Cardinals offense more specifically just played extremely flat, especially in the 2nd half. Pitt came into the game looking for a conference win and looking to find their identity in the middle of the season. Unforchunately for Louisville, Pitt played good last night.

Louisville led 21-14 at half but would fail to score again for the rest of the game, falling to Pitt    38-21. Jack Plummer was making mistakes, the run game became stagnant, Brohm’s play calling was off, and everything for the Cardinals seemed to be off. Pitt wasn’t even playing their best football last night, but they made plays when they needed too and Louisville was not. That essentially was the story of the game. The worst case scenario for the Cardinals happened last night, and the Jeff Brohm hangover game is real. Last night against Pitt proved it.

Louisville has a lot to think about in the upcoming bye week, and a lot of mistakes to fix before they’re next game against Duke. Here are the 3 most important takeaways from last night’s 17-point loss to Pitt last night.
