Louisville Football: ACC Power Rankings Week 7
By Caleb Hall
Where does Louisville fall in the ACC power rankings?Louisville finally fell out of their perfect conference record with a loss to Pitt on saturday, but they still are a top tier team in the ACC. There were only 5 ACC games this weekend since some teams were on a bye, but we found out a lot about the ACC this weekend. Louisville will face some of the teams that won this weekend, and Cardinal fans will have to pay extra close attention to the games around the league if they want them to slip into the ACC Championship game.
Here are my ACC power rankings after last weekend’s slate of games:
- Florida State
- North Carolina
- Duke
- Louisville
- Miami
- Clemson
- Miami
- Georgia Tech
- Virginia Tech
- NC State
- Syracuse
- Pittsburgh
- Wake Forest
- Boston College
- Virginia
The games this weekend played were:
Miami at #10 North Carolina
NC State at #16 Duke
Louisville at Pittsburgh
Wake Forest at Virginia Tech
Syracuse at #4 Florida State
The biggest story of the weekend was North Carolina dominating Miami in the second half 41-31, and Louisville being upset by Pitt 38-21. Duke dominating rival NC State 24-3 was also surprising as the Blue Devils seem to be getting better and better every week, even without Riley Leonard. Some of the lesser stories were FSU beating Syracuse 41-3, and Virginia Tech beating a struggling Wake Forest team 30-13.
North Carolina established themselves as a really good football team with their offensive performance against Miami and showed they could really be compete with FSU for the title. FSU and UNC will be the top dogs until an ACC team can knock them off and possibly let another team sneak into the ACC title game.
FSU will take on Duke this weekend in a top 25 showdown in what will be a big game for both teams to decide who will make the title game. Another big matchup will be Clemson at Miami, in what will be a game that will be a huge test for both coaches who are facing adversity this season.
Boston College will travel to Georgia Tech, Pitt will go to Wake Forest, and Virginia will travel to play #10 North Carolina this weekend. Louisville and NC State are both on byes and will hope to get their act together before they both take on good competition next week.
Louisville will face Duke next saturday at home. If Duke somehow beats Florida State this weekend the Cardinals could look to host another top ten team this season.
