Former Louisville Football recruit opens recruitment back up, decommits from LSU Tigers

The Louisville Cardinals have had an eventful season so far. If you look past last week’s loss against Pitt, Jeff Brohm and his staff have done a great job in 2023. Brohm has not only done a great job with in game coaching (besides last week), but with recruiting as well. He brought in some key players for the offense this season, including Jack Plummer and Jamari Thrash. Brohm has the opportunity to bring in another star freshman receiver next season, who decommitted from LSU and was a huge Louisville football recruit in the past.

Joseph Stone Jr. had been committed to the LSU Tigers since July of 2022. Stone had visited UCF and Louisville this past summer and was still in play for the Cardinals (even if technically he wasn’t).

The Cardinals went all out for his visit and there was always hope that he might turn around his commitment from the Tigers to the Cardinals. Stone currently ranks as the 299th best player of the 2024 class, and also as the 46th best wide receiver, and 35th best player coming out of Georgia (per 247Sports). He is a recruit out of Fairburn, Georgia, and would be an excellent add to Brohm’s 2024 recruiting class.

The Cardinals were picked by On3’s Josh Newburg to land Stone in next year’s 2024 class, and if it comes true it would be a huge get for Brohm. Brohm could definitely have fun with a player like this, but only time will tell for Stone and the Cardinals.
