Everything you need to know for Louisville’s first exhibition against Simmons College tonight
The Louisville Cardinals will play their first exhibition game since March of last year, and this game is very important for the Cardinals, even if it is an exhibition game.
Kenny Payne addressed the the media yesterday concerning the two games. He talked about how he wants his team to play together while the lights were on and while they were being watched. He had this to say about the team:
"“I’ve seen it in spurts. I need to see it consistently. I need to see it when lights are on. I need to see it when times are hard, not when times are good”"
Payne also talked about the chemistry of the team. This Louisville team will need to be a lot more fundamentally sound, if they want wins this year. Here is what Payne had to say about the team’s chemistry:
"“I want there to be chemistry on the floor, chemistry on the bench from the players cheering for those that are in the game. I want us to look like a unit that cares about each other. Those things are important, because if we’re going to be a really good team, it’s not going to be one guy or two guys. It’s gonna be a group of guys that have all fallen into each other, and they’re doing this together.”"
The game will take place in the KFC Yum Center tonight at 7:00 PM, and will stream as an ACC Network Extra that should be able to stream on the ESPN app. Cardinal fans should look and watch for players like Dennis Evans, Tre White, Skyy Clark, and Ty-laur Johnson, and how they play tonight. They are the biggest adds to this team in the offseason, and will be interesting to see how they fit in. While also keeping a close eye on big returning players like Mike James, JJ Traynor, and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield.
Louisville should win this game handily, and if they don’t, Kenny Payne is in for the long haul this season.
