Louisville Cardinals in the NFL had a successful weekend in October

The Louisville Cardinals have a fair amount of pros in a variety of sports, but until the NBA starts we’ll just be looking at the NFL right now. Here are the Cardinals in the NFL that had a good weekend.

Lamar Jackson QB:

It doesn’t seem like a lot of time goes by between talking about all-time Louisville football great Lamar Jackson, but he had another good sunday for himself and the Baltimore Ravens. He threw for 223 yards, going 21/30, with 1 TD, 1 interception, and 7.4 yards per pass. Jackson did enough to lead Baltimore to a 24-16 win over the Tennesse Titans, and Jackson even threw a 10 yard touchdown pass to rookie Zay Flowers. Jackson also had 62 yards rushing on 12 attempts on sunday. Jackson set up the Ravens offense just enough to get into field goal range several times and his touchdown also helped the Ravens defeat the Titans last Sunday.

Mekhi Becton OT:

Mekhi Becton was one of Louisville’s best offensive lineman in recent years, and although he has had some injury history in the past few years, he is getting back to his old self. The New York Jets took down the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles this week and it was a sight to see. The Jets beat the Eagles 20-14 in what was a huge upset in the NFL. Becton helped the Jets throw for 155 yards and rush for 89. He keeps proving he is one of the better offensive lineman in the NFL.

Kei’Trel Clark CB:

Kei’Trel Clark was a buzzing prospect in last years NFL draft. He has had some good moment so far this year but is still adjusting to the league. It also doesn’t help that he is on a struggling Arizona Cardinals team. He was able to make 3 solo tackles in their 26-9 loss to the LA Rams this weekend.

Sheldon Rankins DT:

Sheldon Rankins had his biggest yet as a starter for the surging Houston Texans. He recorded 6 total tackles, 5 of them solo, with 2 tackles for loss and 1 sack on the quarterback. Rankins helped the defense make plays down the stretch as the Texans beat the Saints 20-13.

Yaya Diaby DE:

Yaya Diaby has been getting some playing time in his rookie season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he got some action against Detroit this weekend. Diaby recorded 3 total tackles with one of them being solo against the Detroit Lions, even though it was in a 20-6 loss.

Devante Parker WR:

Devante Parker was one of Louisville’s best receivers when he played here, and he had one of his more disappointing outings for the New England Patriots this weekend. The Patriots were down 2 to the Raiders when they had the ball under 2 minutes. Mac Jones threw the ball in stride to Parker nearing field goal range but Parker just fails to catch the ball in a very untimely drop. The Patriots lost the game and hopefully the veteran wideout will be able to makeup for his huge drop in the next coming weeks.

Tutu Atwell WR:

Tutu Atwell was the most explosive wide receiver in the Scott Satterfield era of Louisville football and although he didn’t have more than one catch this week, it was a big one. Atwell was targeted multiple times, but his only catch came in as a 30 yarder. Atwell has the explosiveness to be a great wideout in the league, he just needs to get the ball more. Hopefully he will in the coming weeks.

Those are all the professional Louisville Cardinals who played in the NFL this weekend. Not a bad outing, but they could of definitely had a better one. Hopefully Lamar Jackson won’t completely carry this segment next week too.
