Finally, Louisville’s Ashton Gillotte gets the national recognition he deserves

Ashton Gillotte finally got some recognition from national media outlets, and he should have gotten it a lot sooner. Gillotte was put on the PFF College third team edge defender team, and was named on the midseason all-america team on CBS Sports.

Gillotte was a menace on the defensive line last season and he’s continuing his streak so far in the 2023 season. In 2023 alone Gillotte has had 6.5 sacks, 8 tackles for loss, 11 solo tackles, and 24 total tackles. Gillotte is not just one of the most deadly pass rushers in the ACC, but in the entirety of college football. He’s even got his own billboard in downtown Louisville.

The national media seems to have been avoiding Gillotte, and I’m not sure why. It might be because they see Louisville as a fluke team with a bunch of stat padders. But if you look at Gillotte’s statline you can see he is a menace on the football field and one of the best pass rushers in college football.

Ashton Gillotte will continue to dominate the teams he plays and hopefully he gets the recognition he deserves for it. He is the Cardinals most dangerous pass rusher on the defensive line, and if he keeps playing how he has been his stock will only go up as the season gets closer to the end.

I’m glad to see Ashton get the positive recognition he deserves. He is one of Louisville’s best defensive players and they always have a shot to win when he is on the field.
