Louisville takes on Simmons College in first exhibition game

Louisville will play it’s first full game in year 2 of the Kenny Payne era
The Louisville Cardinals will take on Simmons College tonight in their first matchup against a team since last season. Payne and his team look to set new standards this season.
The Cardinals have had a total roster rehaul this offseason, and it was needed after Payne’s disastrous 4 win season with the Cards. If Louisville can come out with a win and dominate Simmons coming out the gates it would be very impressive for Payne and his team. Louisville lose to Lenoir-Rhyne last year 57-47, in a game that was very indicative of Louisville’s upcoming season.
Payne has totally revamped this roster and the team is looking a lot better than last year, not just on paper but on the court as well. The Cardinals played their first public scrimmage last week, and players like Tre White, Mike James, and Dennis Evans looked like future stars for the Cardinals and gave fans some hope for the first time in a while.
If the Cardinals come out and loses this game, well, it will very disappointing to say the least. Louisville should dominate this game and if they don’t, it will all be on Kenny Payne for not getting his team ready for the season. The Cardinals have some hype around them, and if they can look good in this game they might be able to even have at least a competitive season this year.
Also a lot of what fans and media are wondering is “who is Payne going to start in this game?”. Payne himself doesn’t seem to know as he said earlier today “I have not made up my mind who I’m gonna start yet.”
The Cardinals will be in action tonight at 7:00 PM inside the KFC Yum Center, and we can only hope Louisville can come out swinging to give fans hope this season.
