Louisville owes Cincinnati a thank you after they took the Cardinal’s coach

The Louisville Cardinals hired hometown hero Jeff Brohm this offseason, and that is only possible because of Cincinnati football and Scott Satterfield. Satterfield decided to jump ship to Cincinnati last offseason when he left Louisville for the Bearcats in a surprising move. The good thing about it was that the University of Cincinnati paid Louisville so they could take Satterfield.

They might regret their decision after Satterfield’s disappointing 2-5 start. While Brohm has led the Cardinals to a 6-1 record and a top ten win in just year 1 with the Cardinals.

Cincinnati ended up paying Louisville 3 million dollars to take Satterfield and it looks like a better and better move for the Cardinals after every passing week.

Cincinnati had a good 2-0 start to the season, but then proceeded to lose 5 straight. Ironically their first loss of the season came to the Bearcat’s rival Miami of Ohio in overtime, who they had not lost to in the last 16 years. Satterfield was known to be the guy to never beat his rivals, but this was a new low even for him.

the Cardinals have prospered to say the least when it comes to losing Satterfield. Not only do they have their best start since 2012, but they were higher ranked (14th) than any Satterfield Louisville team ever was. Also Brohm was actually able to win games in the 4th quarter, and win big games when it came down to the wire. I couldn’t tell you how many times Louisville blew leads to teams, or lost to teams they shouldn’t have lost to. Whether it was losing to Boston College or Syracuse last season as touchdown favorites, or a 20 point blown 4th quarter lead against Virginia in 2021, not having him has helped Louisville football.

Brohm has outshined Satterfield in nearly every aspect in just his first season alone. While Satterfield has flat out disappointed and brought all his worst head coaching qualities with him to Cincinnati.

The Bearcat’s paying the Cardinals for Satterfield may have been the best thing to happen to the football program since Lamar Jackson was in red.
