Donovan Mitchell and Terry Rozier shine on NBA opening night

Donovan Mitchell and Terry Rozier led both of their teams to wins on the NBA opening night last night, in a good start for the former Louisville basketball alumni.

Donovan Mitchell puts the dagger in for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1-0 start

Donovan Mitchell led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 114-113 victory over the Brooklyn Nets last night. His biggest bucket came with 13.9 seconds left in the game, where Mitchell drained a big time 3 pointer to give the Cavaliers a 1 point lead over the Nets.

Mitchell finished with 27 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds on the night. He also tallied 4 steals and 1 block against the Nets. Mitchell is one of the best guards in the NBA, and proved he can still lead the Cavaliers to wins, as he drained a clutch 3 to “defend the land” for Cleveland.

Mitchell also shot 11-21 from the field and 4-10 from 3 last night.

Terry Rozier puts on shifty moves for the Charlotte Hornets, they move to 1-0

Terry Rozier was known for his ability to slice up defenders in the paint and make space for jumpshots in his time at Louisville. That is exactly what he did last night against the Atlanta Hawks.

Rozier had 24 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds last night, while shooting 8-12 from the line with a 6-3 assist to turnover ratio. Rozier also shot 7/16 from the floor, and 2/7 from the three point line. Rozier had a bunch of nice looking buckets, including a smooth lay in during the 2nd quarter.

Rozier’s biggest score was a tough finish at the rim which put the Hornets up 113-108 in the final minute of the game. The Hornets finished the game with a win over the Hawks 116-110, thank to Rozier’s good offensive performance.

Former Louisville Cardinals had a good opening night in the NBA, and hopefully more Cardinals can get in action during the coming weeks.
